How to make:
1.Print out the flower pinwheel template on A4 or Letter size card stock. To come up with a two-toned flower pinwheel, use different colors of cardstock for each page. 2.Cut out the template pieces. 3.Align the two template pieces such that the blades of the first template are nested between those of the second template. Glue the template pieces together at the center. 4.Without creasing the paper, bring each spoke towards the center and glue the end in place. 5.Continue until you have glued all spokes at the center. At this point your pinwheel looks pretty much like a six-petal flower. 6.Glue the paper circle at the center. 7.Carefully insert a push pin at the center of the pinwheel. Wiggle the pushpin around to make the hole a bit larger. 8.Push the pin onto the eraser of a pencil. Leave a small gap between the paper and the eraser to allow the pinwheel to spin more freely. If you want a longer handle, use a wooden dowel in place of a pencil. Pushing the pin into the wood is a bit hard so make sure an adult does this step. You will need to place a spacer (e.g. bead, button, or small piece of drinking straw) between the paper and dowel to prevent the pin from going through and through the dowel. 9.Finally, try blowing at the edges of the pinwheel to make it spin. Loosen the pin a bit if the blades do not rotate well. |
Kids Mailbox (With duct tape)You will need:
2x Cereal Box / Cookie Box / Cracker Box, Several Rolls Of Different Coloured Duct Tape, How to make:To make this play mailbox, simply scrounged up an old cookie/cracker box that is the right size. Then cut the top off and used the side of an old cereal box to create the arched top Secured on with duct tape. Used another side of the cereal box to cut out the shape of the mailbox door and flag (attach these later). Once you have the box shape, cover the box, flag and door with a selection of duct tape and secure the door at the bottom to make a hinge and a small amount at the top so the door stays closed. You can also cut letters, hearts, stars etc from the duct tape for decoration or buy decorative stickers. This is a great little project and easy to do. Using the duct tape will also make it a little stronger for little hands. You can also print off our envelope and paper templates to use with your mailbox.
